Silvia Schwarz Linder

Research Fellow

Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies

Silvia Schwarz Linder, MA in Philosophy (University of Rome), MA in Oriental Studies (University of Turin), PhD in South Asian Studies (University of Vienna). She taught at the Leopold-Franzens-Universität of Innsbruck and at Ca’ Foscari, the University of Venice. She was Research Associate at the Institut für Indologie und Zentralasienwissenschaften of the University of Leipzig, and currently Research Fellow at the OCHS. Her interests focus on the Tantric religious traditions of the Śrīvidyā and of the Pāñcarātra, on which she has published several articles. Regarding the philosophical and theological doctrines of the Pāñcarātra South Indian Sanskrit textual tradition, publications include the monographic study: The Philosophical and Theological Teachings of the Pādmasaṃhitā, Verlag der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, Vienna 2014. On the Srīvidyā, as the outcome of a project submitted to the OCHS within the Śākta Traditions Research Programme, she has published a monographic study in the Routledge Hindu Studies Series: Goddess Traditions in India / Theological Poems and Philosophical Tales in the Tripurārahasya, Routledge, London and New York 2022. She has also translated and published texts from the Sanskrit narrative and devotional literature into Italian, aimed at a general readership.
